  Eclectic menu with a variety of choices. Great smoked ribs, potato latkes, salads, desserts, gnocchi, soups, corn bread. Handled our large group (7 couples) with no drama (including separate bills for each couple). Everything made on site (big smoker in the back). Memphis-style ribs were tasty, but another couple of hours in the smoker would have had the meat falling off the bones. Decent beer and wine list, including local / Canadian microbrews and fruit wines and ciders.

  I added a baked beans 'side' to my burger as an extra and those were good. Not great, just good. I don't think they were worth $4 for the small portion though.

  Creative tweaks to classics, everything is made from scratch. Absolutely amazingly tasty food.

  I had the Camp burger that upon reflection seemed to try and mimic a Big Mac: two patties, shredded lettuce, some kind of cheesy sauce, and pickles. It failed miserably and the hamburger patties were slightly rubbery and seemed like they were boiled. Those parties definitely weren't freshly cooked as my burger came out a few minutes after my order. The whole thing was utterly tasteless.

  Just had tonight's special: fried Cornish hen, cheesy spaetzle & mushrooms, broccoli, and bread & butter pickles. Absolutely delicious. My kids liked their grilled cheese and chicken nuggets. According to my husband, the mushroom burger was good but not great. The decor is interesting but not overdone and they have the coolest clock. I couldn't try them tonight, but they have interesting alcoholic drink specials, like a Jäger Pomme (Jägermeister and cider). The shop has a lot of interesting books and decor items.

  I had super high expectations for Camp as I had been referred to it by a couple people who were emphatic about the awesome food so maybe I was oversold.

  Camp Cookhouse never lets us down. Always great food, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere. A must-stop place in Cypress Hills.

  Go support this local restaurant - just go in with average expectations and maybe you will come out thrilled.
